Obituary of Petros A. Kilara
Petros Kilara, 94 years of age, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2021 surrounded by his family in the home he built.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and is survived by his daughters and their husbands Anastasia (Robert), Eugenia (Alfred), and Antonia (Thomas) and his grandchildren Anthony (Sandy), Victoria, Nicholas, Nicole (Alfred), James, and Dimitri.
Petros was born in Karavas, Cyprus to Antonios and Eugenia Kilaras. He was a farmer who immigrated to the United States in 1957. He and his wife Sotera were one of the founding families of Saint Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in West Nyack. A passionate and successful mason, he was known and respected throughout Rockland County. He had a tireless work ethic and always placed his family first. He loved to garden and always made sure his family had fresh vegetables every year. Petros always loved to share stories and laughs with those he loved.
He is predeceased by his loving wife Sotera.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday 9/15/2021 at 9:00am at Saint Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church at 1 Marycrest Rd, West Nyack. Funeral services will follow at 10:00am.
