Obituary of Frank A. Erichsen
Frank A. Erichsen, age 75, of New City, NY, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021. He was born December 27, 1945 in Tvedestrand, Norway, the son of the late Erik Erichsen and the late Molly Erichsen Montgomery.
He came to the US at the age of 10 and lived the rest of his life in New City. He graduated Clarkstown High School in 1965 and was drafted into the U.S. Army shortly after. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, being granted an honourable discharge in 1967 and becoming a member of the American Legion Post #1682. He was a master carpenter by trade and joined Lederle Laboratories in Pearl River in 1977 and stayed with them for 35 years until retirement.
He met and fell in love with Eileen Barrett, formerly of Brooklyn, then of Congers, NY, and they were married on June 14th, 1969, recently celebrating their 52nd wedding anniversary. They had twin sons, Erik, married to Anita and parents to Ryan and Kristen, and Frank Jr. He took great pride in the home that he built for his family in New City Park, not far from the house his father built when they came to America. Frank was a kind and compassionate man whose greatest love was simply to be with family. His patience, love, and commitment to family will be missed.
He is survived by his wife Eileen; son Erik and his wife Anita, two grandchildren who were the light of his life, Ryan and Kristen; and son Frank Jr., all of New City. He is also survived by his sister Eva Erichsen Brylawski and her husband Ed of Milford, PA, and numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews both in the U.S. and in Norway. He was predeceased by his parents and adoptive father, Richard J. Montgomery.
A viewing will take place at Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home at 728 West Nyack Road, West Nyack, N.Y., 10994, from 3pm-7pm on Thursday, July 1st. Cremation and burial will be private.
