Russell J. Tagliareni

(1930-2021)

Russell Joseph Tagliareni passed away on February 21, 2021.  A 63-year resident of Nanuet, NY, he was born in Jersey City, NJ.  Russell was the son of Salvatore and Francesca (Loreca) Tagliareni, and brother to Tina Tagliareni and Sal Tagliareni (Elaine).  He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Rosemary, daughters Mary Lou Fyrwald, Susan Daly, Anne Belden and Joan Tagliareni, sons-in-law Erik Fyrwald, James Daly, and Steve Belden, six grandchildren Kristina, Jacqueline, Scott, AnnaLise, Shawn, and Christian, and many nieces and nephews.

Russell graduated from St. Aloysius Elementary and High School, and St. Peter’s College.  After college, he served in the US Army during the Korean War, and was later employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (15 years), and by ITT (25 years), finally with ITT as Director of Security.  He was a multi-year member of the Former Agents of the FBI.

Russell was a wonderful father and husband who put his family’s happiness and well-being above all else.  He was blessed with a loving family and many good friends.  He was a devout Catholic parishioner of St. Anthony’s Parish (where he served as a Eucharist Minister), a member of the Nanuet II Senior group, spent many summers enjoying Long Beach Island NJ, and was a dedicated fan of the St. Louis Cardinals as well as all things golf, travel, and Italian food – among many other passions he was enthusiastic and curious about during his 91 years of life.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 26th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home, West Nyack, NY.  The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 27th at 10:00 am at St. Anthony’s Parish, Nanuet, NY.

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Joseph’s Indian School in Chamberlain, SD.or to Birthright of Rockland (257 S. Middletown Road, Nanuet, NY).
