Obituary of Ellen T. Lekow

Ellen Teresa Lekow of Nanuet, NY passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020.

Ellen was born to Susan and John O’Brien on October 25, 1938 in Kilrush, Co. Clare, Ireland.  She married her loving husband, John Joseph Lekow on November 17, 1962 at Immaculate Conception Church in the Bronx.  John predeceased her in 2015.

Ellen will be dearly missed by her five daughters, Ellen Marie (Erich) Rechenberger, Susan (John) Hahnenfeld, Eileen (John) Reilly, Kathleen Schuler and Anne Lekow.  Ellen was the proud grandmother “Nana” to nine grandchildren, Erich John, Thomas and Caitlin Rechenberger, Annemarie, Joseph and Lauren Hahnenfeld and John Thomas, Katherine and Meghan Reilly.

Ellen is also survived by her sister, Clair and brothers-in-law, James Schlag, Con Naylor and sister-in-law Lois Weeks, along with many nieces, nephews, friends and her beloved dog, Donny.

Ellen was a parishioner at St. Anthony’s Church for 46 years serving in many roles, Eucharistic Minister, Blessed Mother Sodality, CCD, Parish Council and Bingo. She worked at Orange and Rockland Utilities for 35 years.  Best of all, she enjoyed her time at the Jersey shore at the "house on the bay” with her family.

The family is welcoming relatives and friends at Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home on Monday, December 14 from 2-4 and 7-9.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, December 15 at 11:30 at St. Anthony’s Parish Church.
