Obituary of Michael John Kavanagh
Michael J. Kavanagh passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on October 14, 2020.
Michael lived in Pomona, New York for most of his life. He was born at Nyack Hospital on February 23, 1984. He graduated from Ramapo High School in 2002. He attended Southern Vermont College receiving a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and Management and a minor in Computers in 2006.He loved going to college and living in Vermont calling it some of the happiest years of his life. Michael was proud to be a Resident Assistant in his Junior year. He made life long friends and lived there off Campus during his last year.
He worked as a life guard in Manchester, VT the summer before his Senior year. Jobs he held after graduation included Former Director of Information Technology, Former Business Technology at Bill of Health Services. Medical Practice Manager at Private Organization.
Michael loved cars, it was his big thing. He could tell the make, model and year of a car a mile away. Luckily for him he had a few different cars he loved to drive.
A huge fan of Debbie Harry from Blondie and Boy George, of Culture Club he went to many concerts and met Boy George on more than one occasion. He even flew to London once for a special concert and met other BG fans he continued to stay in touch with. When Blondie pointed him out and sang to him at a NY concert, he was overjoyed. His mom trekked to several of these concerts with him once embarrassing him to Boy George by shouting to BG that Michael was his biggest fan.
Michael loved animals especially his two Shelties. He got his first Sheltie “Jessie” (a female), when he was three years old and his second “Jesse” (a boy) was his College Graduation present. His Collie Lassie will sadly be missing him.Michael had a heart of gold and would do anything for his friends or family. He also had a witty sense of humor and a sensitive and loving heart.
Michael is survived by his mother Josephine Kavanagh, father John Kavanagh, sister Christine and brother Timothy, great Aunt, Agnes Ruppert and Aunt, Kathy Kavanagh and several cousins. His grandparents Sofie and Max Barsuk and Elizabeth and Douglas Kavanagh, have all predeceased him.
