Obituary of Margaret M. Landau
Margaret (Peggy) Mary Landau (Prenderville), 93, passed away on July 15, 2020, at her home in New City, NY, surrounded by her loving family.
Peggy was born in Manhattan, NY, on June 11, 1927, to Joseph Prenderville and Mary O’Sullivan. She was the older sister to the late Shiela Stanczyk. Peggy graduated from Cathedral High School in Manhattan, NY, in 1944 and went to work as a bookkeeper at a publishing house.
In 1951, she married the love of her life, the late, Arthur William Landau, and were together for 64 years. Together they raised their four children, Thomas (Jeanie) Landau, the late Kevin Landau, Margaret (Craig) Caselli, and Brian (Kerry) Landau. In addition to raising her children, Peggy worked as a bookkeeper at Gelbart Jewelers in New City, NY for over 40 years.
Peggy was a member of The Catholic Big Sisters of St. Augustine’s Parish; enjoyed spending summers at the Jersey Shore and February in Siesta Key, Fl.; she enjoyed dabbling in real estate; and she spent many a Sunday with lifelong friends watching Giants Football. What brought her most joy was watching her grandchildren, Kara (Nick) DeSerio, Kevin Caselli, Kate Caselli, and Taylor Landau, and great grand child, Gavin DeSerio, grow and blossom into the wonderful humans they are today.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Church in West Nyack, NY on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 11:30 am. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Nanuet, NY.
