Obituary of Edward M. Erickson

Edward M. Erickson, age 71, passed away suddenly September 27, 2019.  He was born December 5, 1947 in Passaic, New Jersey to Edward and Frances. His life was well lived and he was well loved.

Ed, called Buzz by the ones who knew him well, was a lifelong Rockland County resident and attended Clarkstown High School. Cherished husband to Patti Erickson and devoted father to his son Jared, daughter Jaime (Sainz) and stepsons Chris and Jeff (Partridge).  He was proud and honored to be the grandfather of Patterson, Peyton, Dallas and John.  He is also survived by his sister Jane (Balling), brother-in-law Frank, nieces Betsy, Christy, Amy and their families.

Buzz was a veteran of the US Army who served from August 1968 through June 1970. He was also a member of the Vietnam Veterans Association. He later devoted himself to becoming a local business owner and in retirement continued to contribute the community as a bus driver for the Clarkstown School District.

Buzz was his happiest relaxing on the beach at his favorite spots in Long Beach Island, New Jersey.  He will always be remembered for his quick one liners to get a smile or a laugh, his "beautiful" singing voice, his expert grilling and cooking skills and his green thumb. Buzz was a sports lover and avid golfer.  He cherished his time on the golf course and passed on his passion for the game to his son.  He instilled his love for the Yankees and Giants in his children by attending countless games together. His passion for sports will live on through his children and grandchildren for years to come.

Visitation will take place at the Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home, 728 West Nyack Road, West Nyack, NY on Wednesday, October 2nd from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Vietnam Veterans of Westchester, Chapter 49 and the American Cancer Association, as Buzz was a long time supporter for cancer research.
