Obituary of Charles B. Reynolds, Sr.
Charles Bernard (Charlie) Reynolds, 93, formerly of West Nyack passed away on December 8 in Tinton Falls, New Jersey.
Charlie was born the youngest of eight children to Edward & Agnes Reynolds on June 7, 1925 in Greenwich Village, NY. Following graduation from St. Veronica’s Grammar School, he attended Commerce High School where he was a star catcher on the baseball team. As World War II heightened in 1943, Charlie enlisted in the U.S. Navy and rose to the rank of Gunner’s Mate Third Class on the U.S. Endicott among other ships.
Following WWII, Charlie became a teamster for Allstate / P.I.E. Trucking. In 1955, he and his wife, Alicia, moved to West Nyack where they would live for the next 61 years raising their four children. Upon retirement from P.I.E., Charlie transitioned to the Pearl River School District holding several positions until retirement. Throughout these years, Charlie found time to coach CYO basketball at St. Anthony’s, was a loyal season ticket holder with the NY Giants as well as an avid NY Yankee fan, enjoyed family vacations in Milford, CT, and was an active member in the West Nyack VFW. Following retirement, he enjoyed visiting his grandchildren and being a member of the Nanuet Seniors Club II.
Charlie is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Alicia, of Inwood, NY; his four children and spouses: Patricia Moran (Jack), Alicia Readler (Gary), Chuck Reynolds (Donna), and Paul Reynolds (Jill); Nine grandchildren: Robert DeWit, Chad Reynolds (Kristen), John Moran, Paige Paradiso (Michael), Derek Readler, Jillian Reynolds, Dylan, Camaryn, and Carson Reynolds; five great grandchildren: Keira and Kallie DeWit, Harper and McKinley Paradiso, and Maci Reynolds.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, December 12th at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony’s Church 36 West Nyack Road, Nanuet, NY 10954. Burial to immediatly follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 11th from 3pm to 7pm at Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home, Inc. 728 West Nyack Road, West Nyack, NY 10994 (845) 358-4433 www.sorcefuneralhome.com.
