Obituary of John Metakis

John P. Metakis passed away on September 26, 2018 surrounded by his loving family, he was 85.

Born in Soha Sparta Greece on August 18, 1933 to Peter and Antonia (Papadakos) Metakis, John came to the United States in 1950.  He met the love of his life Effie and they married in 1960.  They lived in the Bronx where they had their 3 daughters.  They moved to Rockland in 1972 where they raised their family.

John is pre decesed by his wife Effie and brother in law Louie Selimos.  He is survived by his daughters Donna, Maria (Basil) Konstantinidis, and Despina. His loving grandaughters Olivia, and Zoe Konstantinidis.

He is also survived by his sisters Tula (Dino) Katsihtis, Joanne (Timothy) Korines, Aphrodite Metakis, and his brother Perikles (Aphrodite) as well as his in-laws Voula Panageas, George (Potoula) Selimos, Jimmy (Effie) Selimos, Lee (Costa) Karolidis and many adored neices and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 29th at 10:00 am at Sts Constantine and Helen Church 1 Marycrest Rd, West Nyack, NY 10994. Burial to immediatly follow at Rockland Cemetery, Kings Highway, Sparkill, NY 

Visitation will take place on Friday, September 28th from 4:00pm to 9:00pm at the Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home, Inc. 728 West Nyack Road, West Nyack, NY 10994 (845) 358-4433 www.sorcefuneralhome.com
