Ambrose M. Matelski, 64 of Pomona, passed away on the 4th of July. Born on Feb 19th, 1954 to Anastasia (Butler) and Ambrose Matelski of Haverstraw. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years Mary Jane (Dineen) Matelski, his son Michael Matelski of Binghamton, NY, and daughter Jennifer of Stamford, CT. He is also survived by his brother Richard Matelski, his sister in law Claudia, and his nephew Paul of Sparkill, NY.

Ambrose had recently retired from his position as Electronics Engineer at BAE systems.

Ambrose had a zest for life. He had a passion for the outdoors and nature-particularly hiking and camping. He had a deep appreciation for music, and was a talented bass player and pianist. He encouraged those around him to appreciate music, nature, and the great outdoors.

Ambrose was an expert on the history of Haverstraw where he was born and raised. He had a deep appreciation for literature, and was an avid reader and a prolific writer.

One of his favorite hobbies also included collecting model trains, particularly Lionel. He would share this love of model railroading with his children and nephew.

He touched the lives of everyone who met him, and was a kind and thoughtful soul. He will be sorely missed by both his family and all those who knew him.
