Obituary of Arlene Payton
Arlene was born in Fall River MA and raised in Brockton Massachusetts. My parents met on a blind date in the early 1980’s.
Arlene was 64 years old at passing, married to Arthur (Arty) for 34 years. October would have been 35 years of marriage happiness for them. She loved family, she would joke with us that my wife Kimberly and I have been replaced by our son (her grandson) Logan (3 years old) for the #1 spot. She always fooled that she loved him more than us. (In fact she hung one of his art projects on top of our wedding photos.)
Arlene was the Godmother to all of her younger sister Lisa and her husband John’s kids from oldest to youngest – Brian, Erin, Megan, Brendan, Kevin, and Sean. Family was her life – whether that was her brother Manuel (who passed last summer) and his wife Jeanette who will be in attendance, or her sister Edith who cannot attend the services due to failing health. Family to her wasn’t just blood though, when she married Arthur she became a Payton and that meant she inherited more brothers and sisters. She became very close to them. Arty’s two brothers Hank and his wife Donna, Kevin and his wife Frannie, and his sisters Noreen and her husband Jimmy and his sister Sheila. Family was EVERYTHING to Arlene.
Arlene worked up until the day before she passed. She was an office manager for the Dulanski Group in Purchase NY. She adored her office and co-workers, and they loved her too. They referred to her as the office Mom. She was known to be quick with the wit and the whip at work and at home. Mom often said she was the only one with brains in this family.
Even though mom was disabled, and always in pain because of her leg. She never complained about it. “there is always someone who had it worse”
Mom was an avid and vocal New England Sports fan – with her biggest passion The Boston Bruins. Arlene was known to decorate her boss’ (Jose) office with New England Patriots & Boston Red Sox swag before he would come into the office.
