Anna Gavioli

Obituary of Anna Gavioli

ANNA GAVIOLI passed away peacefully with her son, Wayne and daughter-in-law, Mary Ann at her side on February 7, 2018. Born December 1, 1926 in Little Italy, New York City to Italian American immigrant parents Giovanni and Catherina Castellano, she attended St. Patrick's Old Cathedral School. She worked in the garment industry and eventually for Citibank in Manhattan. Anna was married to her handsome, childhood sweetheart, Arthur. They relocated to Staten Island where they raised their children, Wayne(Mary Ann) and Bruce (Linda). Arthur died at a young age. Anna worked (2) two jobs, kept the family together and made sure each of her children were well cared for and educated. Wayne became an attorney and Bruce, an engineer, Vice President of Con Edison. Anna continued to reside in her beloved Staten Island in a home that won awards for landscaping. Anna would be struck by a car while going to mass at St. Catharine's. She suffered massive injuries but recovered. She relocated to live with her son Wayne and his wife Mary Ann Gavioli.

The love of her life were her three grandchildren, Wayne II(Cassie), Anna and Elizabeth. They gave her joy. She loved to drive them to dance classes, soccer, karate, basketball, baseball. She would cheer louder than any parent. Then she would treat them to pizza or McDonalds. Nothing gave her more pleasure in life than being with them.

Anna was kind to a fault. She never believed in harsh words. She was generous to all even though she had so little. She always watched out for her puppies, her children and grandchildren. She had a tough and difficult life. May she now rest in peace. We will miss her beyond anything you can imagine.

Viewing will be at the Joseph W.Sorce Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday, February 9th, 2018, 2-4 PM and 7-9PM. 9845) 358-4433, www.sorcefuneralhome.com
