Margaret T McCabe
Margaret T. (Brown) McCabe, 86, of Nanuet died on Monday July 12, 2010 at her home after a long illness.

Margaret was born in New York City on February 11, 1924 to Henry and Lillian Brown.

She married James J. McCabe on Sept. 2, 1946, he predeceased her in 1972.

Margaret was the devoted and beloved mother of Margaret of Brookfield, Ct., James (and Mary Ellen) of Litchfield, CT., John of NYC, Joseph (and Kathryn) of Parker, CO., Gerard (and Judith) of Seekonk, MA., Mark (and Kerry Ann) of Pearl River, Marian (and John) Gray of Tappan, and an infant son, James, who was born and died in 1947.

Margaret was a much loved grandmother to Bridget (and Brad), Jim (and Kim), Kate, Kevin, Laura, Mike, Billy, Jackie, Elizabeth, Steven, Kelly, Ryan, Brendan, Conor, Sean, Erin and Ryan, and great grandmother to Patrick and Colleen.

Margaret was the beloved sister of William (and Eileen) Brown of East Islip, NY and Kenneth (and Sandra) Brown of West Palm Beach, FLA. Her brother, Henry (and Ruth) predeceased her.

Margaret was a member of St. Anthony’s Church in Nanuet for 54 years. She also attended weekday 12:10 Mass at St. Aedan’s for many years. She was Treasurer of Rockland County Right to Life for over 20 years.

She graduated from BOCES Adult Education Practical Nursing School in 1980 and worked one year at Dominican Convent Infirmary in Blauvelt and more than ten years at Elmwood Manor (now Northern Manor) Nursing Home in Nanuet. She was devoted to her patients.

Friends may call Wednesday (today) from 7 to 9 pm and Thursday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 pm at the “Family Owned” Joseph W. Sorce F.H. Inc.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 11:30 am in St. Anthony's Church, 36 West Nyack Rd., Nanuet.

Interment will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Nanuet.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations may be sent to United Hospice Of Rockland, 11 Stokum Lane, New City, NY 10956, Good Council Homes (for homeless pregnant mothers and single mothers with babies), 22 Linden Ave.
